Worship at Emmanuel

What to expect

At Emmanuel UC, we have a relaxed atmosphere for worship. Some people might wear suits, but most people come casually dressed. Our services start at 11:00 AM, but the doors open at 10:30 AM so people can catch up with friends, and new people can find out where things are. There is an offering plate outside the sanctuary for those who wish to make envelop donations, and a Tin Bucket for outreach initiatives.

Order of Service

Our worship service begins with a gathering period, where we prepare our hearts for worship through prayer, hymns, and lighting of the Christ Candle to symbolize Jesus’ presence among us. Our gifted choir leads us in all hymns, and the congregation is invited to lend their voices to our musical praise.

After we have gathered and prepared for worship, we hear a message for the Young-at-Heart and an All Ages message, where the Word of God is proclaimed and we reflect on what this Word looks like when we live it out. Rev’d Tom always strives to make the Word of God relevant to today’s world, so that people can go out ready to apply that Word to their daily lives.

Our worship isn’t complete until we begin our response to God’s grace in our service, and the real response in how we take that offer of grace out into our everyday living.

When we celebrate the sacrament of Holy Communion, our table is open to all who profess faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and seek to follow His teachings.

After Worship

Each week, Rev’d Tom greets everyone as they leave the sanctuary. This is a great time to meet Tom. Afterwards, most people gather in the Fellowship Hall to have some coffee and treats, to meet new people or chat with old friends.
