Who we are
We are a young-at-heart congregation that is seeking renewal by reflecting the love of Jesus out to our community!
Where we come from
The United Church of Canada was formed in 1925 through a union of several different Protestant denominations. As a result, each congregation within the United Church is unique. Emmanuel UC began gathering in Bramalea in 1961 with Rev’d Elinor Leard, one of the first women to lead a pastoral charge in UCC history. Today, Emmanuel UC continues this tradition of welcoming and equipping everyone for ministry, regardless of their background. All we have in common is faith in Jesus Christ and a desire to follow His teachings.
Where we’re headed
We admit we are an imperfect community of Jesus’ followers who have not got it all figured out. Yet we gather in trust and hope that God will be present as we work, worship, play, pray, reach out, serve, learn and grow in the likeness of Jesus. We know that the church of the next decade will be different from the church of the late 1900s and early 2000s, and we’re open to following God in the new things that God is doing in our midst.
What this means for you
We believe that God calls many people to participate in all aspects of Church life; people of different genders, ethnic backgrounds, education, political affiliation, and many other differences besides. Regardless of your past, there is a home for you at Emmanuel UC where you can grow in faith and community.
