Christian Development for Children and Youth
“Walk with me; I will walk with you.”
(From Voices United #649)
Christian Development (Faith Formation) is an important aspect of every follower’s journey to draw closer to God/Jesus, His mission and ministry.
We offer a Sunday youth program that is age appropriate, with the following age groups:
Y Kids (ages 3 - grade 6) join with the whole community for the beginning of worship and then head to their time of sharing, learning, growing and being church where the children engage in Bible stories through storytelling, games, crafts and conversation.
The Y? (grades 7 - 12) gathers with the whole community for the opening of worship and then heads to a separate space for videos, discussions, and other activities to connect the ancient Bible stories.
At Emmanuel, ALL youth are encouraged to share their time and talents with their faith community and the communities they live in through serving and sharing in worship leadership, music, local and global outreach programs etc.
Young people are a gift to any congregation and we are blessed at Emmanuel to co-learn about faith and service with the youth of our congregation! JOIN US!
Youth and adults are ALWAYS welcome to participate in our youth and young adults ministry programs as pilgrims, leaders, storytellers, helpers, and musicians.
This year's Confirmation classes concluded with the Confirmants being welcomed into the Emmanual family of faith on Easter Sunday, April 2, 2017. Here are some Thoughts on Confirmation as written by each of the Confirmants.
We will continue to offer cluster gatherings in 2017. This is a time to come together with youth and leaders in your area, spend some time learning together, worshiping, enjoying a meal and having fun together. Our January cluster gatherings are as follows. Please RSVP so we can have an idea of numbers for food.
You can find a complete cluster break down and 2017 schedule here:
As part of our South West Presbytery YAYA program we hope to work on investing in both youth leadership and presbytery youth ministry. To do this, we have been meeting with youth leaders to learn about the needs, joys and challenges of this work. We meet the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 2 pm at Islington United Church in the KRT room, come for coffee in person or join us via conference call, this will be a time for coaching, brainstorming, planning and visioning for the future, together.
